I received an email stating that my settlement on a car was underpaid. The email looks legitimate, but the email says that they need bank details to settle the matter. I am not willing to give or call just in case it is a £250 per minute scam.
I received a letter telling me I was due a refund, but I didn't realise the date and car registration were not quite right. I don't think I'll fall for it though, I'll just not call the number.
It is highly unlikely that the refund will be real on the car policy.
Claimed to be from Close Brothers Motor Finance, saying I was due a refund. I did not feel right about the refund, so I did not proceed.
Letter received stating I was due a refund but the letter made no sense, and not offical. It stated I owed them money .. Googled the number it wasnt even the right number.
I nearly called the number, then checked on here first! So glad I checked here!
I'm not sure, did you get your refund?
I called them, all seemed legit (he even had my sort code and account number!) and then closebrothers confirmed they don’t text people about refunds. I then proceeded to cancel my card and put extra security measures in with my bank, just in case. I’ve now received a
Did you receive your refund, Sophie?
Yes, I received it this morning! It's legit guys.
After thinking the letter was odd, not dealt with the company since 2018, and not finding the number on Google, the woman thought it was a scam and rang the head office. They said the refund was because of recent internal checks. The woman paid around £13 using her bank account number and sort code.
Tony, I appreciate your confirmation that this is true, as I had no idea what to make of it.
The sub office of close brothers is a part of close brothers, and as a result, I received a refund for the incorrect interest calculation. I called close brothers prior to ensure this office was legitimate, and only paid £40 for the refund. This was better in my pocket because the refund was less expensive.
I received an email stating that my settlement for a car was underpaid. The details look legitimate, but the email states that they need my bank details to settle the matter. I'm not willing to give my bank details or call, just in case it's a scam where they charge £250 per minute.
I almost fell for it, but then I realized the date and car registration were not quite right. Don't ring the numbers!
It is highly unlikely that the ring refund on the car policy is real.
I was contacted by someone claiming to be from Close Brothers Motor Finance saying I was due a refund. Something didn't seem right, so I didn't proceed.

I nearly called the number on the text message I received stating that I was due a refund from Close Brothers finance, who I had car finance with last year. So glad I checked here first!

Hi Sophie, did you receive your refund?
I am interested and I received it this morning! It is legitimate, guys.
I thought the letter was odd because I hadn't dealt with the company since 2018 and the numbers didn't look right, so I disregarded their numbers and looked up another number for their head office. They said the refund was legitimate and that the numbers on the letter were different because they were for that department.
Thank you, Tony, for confirming this. I received a letter and wasn't sure what to make of it.
I called Close Brothers to make sure this office was legitimate before I found out that, although it's not advertised, it's a sub-office of Close Brothers. I got a refund of only £40, but it's still better in my pocket than the wrong interest calculation.

Thank you, Tony, for confirming what I received in the letter. I wasn't sure what to make of it.
Although it wasn't advertised, I found out that this is a sub-office of Close Brothers. I called them beforehand to make sure this office was legitimate. I only got a refund of £40, but it's still better than nothing.
