Telephoning with a foreign accent, the person said they were from BT and they needed to follow some instructions. When I asked why they were not calling from a BT number, the person hung up. I ordered a DSL filter from Amazon, which was delivered yesterday. Is this a scam?

Someone called me from this phone number saying that my National cover numbers would be cancelled if I did not confirm something. I just got curious to find out what that was all about & pressed 1 of the options, but the connection was so poor that the person who picked up the telephone just hung up. I guess

I've had numerous calls from home telephone and mobile phone today, as well as from a foreign lady who asked me questions about my age bracket when I asked her why she hung up. I believe this is some kind of scam, and there may be a scammer ringing my phone at worst.
