Telephoned with a foreign accent, the person said they were from BT and needed to follow some instructions. When I asked why they were not calling from a BT number, they hung up. I ordered a DSL filter from Amazon, which was delivered yesterday. Is this a scam?

Someone called me from this numbers saying that my National cover numbers would be cancelled if I did not confirm something. I just got curious to find out what that was all about & pressed 1 of the options but the connection was so poor that the person who picked the telephone up 1 the other side just hung up.
